Failed New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo, forced from the New York governorship by accusations of sexual assault, is blaming Democrat socialists for his political demise.
Cuomo told conservative podcaster Bill O’Reilly that his father’s Democrat party is being torn apart by a major internal struggle.
He describes it as a “simmering civil war” between moderates and the party’s far-left wing.
Cuomo leveled his harshest criticism at the wing of the party that forced him to quit as New York governor and rejected his mayoral bid.
“Zohran shows up at the May Day rally as a communist,” Cuomo said, referring to Bowdoin College grad Zohran Mamdani, who defeated him in the November mayor’s race.
Mamdani made headlines by becoming the first New York City mayor in decades to speak at an International Workers’ Day (May Day) rally.
During the event, he gave remarks to a crowd that included multiple pro-communist and anti-capitalist groups.
Mamdani graduated from the elite Maine college in 2014 after four years of undergraduate socialist and racist activism.
While at Bowdoin, Mamdani founded Students for Justice in Palestine -simultaneously claiming he was a victim of “white supremacy” even though he’s not black despite having falsely saying on a college application that he is.
Mamdani successfully used victimhood to help banish Cuomo from his own party by selling voters on “free everything,” as Cuomo calls it, including child care and bus rides.
Cuomo expressed frustration to O’Reilly with the rise of “socialism and communism” within the Democrat party and criticized political symbolism over practical governance.
His idea of practical governance was forcing sick, elderly COVID patients to stay in nursing homes instead of getting hospitalized, reportedly leading to the deaths of thousands of long-term-care residents.
Cuomo’s gripe is he can’t believe he got tossed out of the traditional Democrat party by what he believes are a group of communist socialists.
“Are they stupid?” O’Reilly asked the vanquished governor who failed a political comeback as mayor. “They’re young and they buy it,” a bitter Cuomo responded.
Cuomo argued that progressive activists have become more influential within Democrat politics, while moderate party members face growing pressure from primary challenges and organized political movements.
It’s no surprise that he would claim the party his father Mario Cuomo – also ex-NY governor – helped build has gone rogue.
After all, that’s the leftist wing of the party that he blames for allegedly stirring up the sexual-assault accusations that drove him from Gracie Mansion, the governor’s palatial, servant-supplied residence.
Cuomo’s problem is that the party itself didn’t hit on his female aides while he was governor. But he needs a scapegoat to explain the disgraceful end to his family’s political control over New York.
After quitting as governor under threat of impeachment, Cuomo figured he’d be a shoo-in for mayor of the nation’s largest city, running as an “independent” after losing the Democrat primary nomination to Mamdani.
But his brand of misogyny lost to Mamdani’s brand of anti-cop, antisemitic socialism.
Drawing parallels to loyalty in politics, Cuomo expressed disappointment over the lack of public support he received from former political allies during his resignation and the height of the “Me Too” movement he blames for accusations against him of sexual harassment against his female aides.

Our country needs more politicians like Jared Golden and Rand Paul and John Fetterman. All 3 courageous enough to cross party lines. The race to the far left and far right is hurting our great nation.
