Harley-Davidson is bringing back production from Thailand to Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, a decision drawing praise from the Trump administration.

In turn, Harley-Davidson officials credited Trump with new economic policies favoring domestic manufacturing.

“The Trump administration’s changes to U.S. trade policy, combined with shifts in the global trade environment, have created new opportunities for companies to invest in domestic manufacturing,” the famous motorcycle company said in a statement.

The Milwaukee-based company plans to manufacture the Pan America, Sportster S and Nightster models in the U.S, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“Bringing this work back home is another important step in getting back to the bricks, investing in American manufacturing, and building on the values that have made Harley-Davidson one of the most iconic brands in the world,” said Bill Davidson, representing one of two founding families.

The Trump administration touted the decision as an “American manufacturing win.”

The administration posted to its social media accounts saying Harley-Davidson “is bringing the production of certain models back to the U.S. More American jobs. More American manufacturing. More bikes made in America.”

Founded in 1903, Harley is one of two major American motorcycle manufacturers to survive the Great Depression, the other being its historical rival, Indian Motorcycle Company.

Harley-Davidson is noted for a customization that gave rise to the chopper motorcycle style.
