โSource: Red Sox Not Considering Firing Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslowโ
That’s the actual headline Tuesday on a Boston Globe piece by Tim Healy.
Sounds like The Onion or Harvard Lampoon.
โSourceโ World Not Coming To An End.โ
The record-losing Sox certainly wouldn’t be out of line canning Breslow.
โSounds like,โ akin to a game of journalistic charades.
The Glob clearly wants to cover its a** in case Breslow does get his walking papers.
So the only way to save face in case it gets scooped, say, by ESPN if and when Breslow does get fired, is to come out with a fake-news story denying he’s being let go while suggesting he is, without the goods to confirm it.
Can’t blame the Glob for feeling paranoid.
The paper of record has been scooped by ESPN on every major Boston sports story in recent history.
That despite the fact the Glob has reporters in every locker room, from the Sox to the Bruins to the Celtics to the Patriots.
But despite the Morrissey Boulevard rag spending big bucks on reporters who supposedly know what’s going on behind the scenes, the incumbents are just a total joke.
The Glob has also been far behind on the reporting of the affair between married Pats coach Mike Vrabel and ex-NFL gabber Diana Russini, who is also married.
The Pats sycophants at the paper are afraid of asking Vrabel any serious questions, leaving the dirty work to aggressive tell-it-like-it-is bloggers such as Tony Farmer.
