Maine will reportedly not be participating in the upcoming Great American State Fair, a sixteen-day event held as part of the country’s ongoing 250th anniversary celebrations.
The Great American State Fair is described by Freedom 250 as “an opportunity for visitors from across America to experience an unforgettable celebration of the people and traditions that define our nation.”
Eight states, including Maine, have indicated that they will not be sending a delegation to the event scheduled for later this month.
According to NOTUS, other states that have opted out of the celebration include Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Oregon.
Pennsylvania and Washington continue to remain uncommitted as to whether or not they will be participating in the event.
Although Maryland had originally told the outlet that it would not be joining in the celebration, the state has since confirmed that it will have a delegation in attendance.
Maine was one of several states that did not respond to follow up questions from NOTUS about any potential alternative plans for the fair.
Freedom 250 is a subsidiary of the National Park Foundation, the congressionally authorized nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. Throughout the 250th anniversary celebrations, Freedom 250 has primarily been associated with White House events.
Also involved in supporting celebrations surrounding the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding is the America 250 foundation, which was established by a bipartisan commission created by Congress in 2016 to lead commemoration efforts.
“Whether represented by a governor’s office, a tourism board, or a beloved state company or organization, every community will be celebrated, and every American will see themselves in this once-in-a-generation event,” a spokesperson for Freedom 250 said in a statement shared by Time Magazine.
President Donald Trump has described the upcoming fair as “an enormous year-long nationwide celebration of our heritage.”
Although the fair was originally scheduled to open with a slate of musical performances, artists dropped out after claiming that they had been misled about the nature of the programming and feared being brought into a political fight, as reported by the Associated Press.
As a result of this, President Trump has announced that he will now open the event himself.
No further details on Maine’s refusal to participate in the Great American State Fair are available at this time.

All left wing anti American POS states.
Another black eye for Maine on a national level, to go along with the Platner clown show. Today’s Wall Street Journal had an op-ed by Bill McGurn about the defeat of the “Girl Dads” referendum in Maine.
It’s getting to be embarrassing to live here.
