Maine Sports Fanatic: ‘Disastrous Red Sox Season Due To A Perfect Storm, Lazy Boston Media’

Real-estate appraiser David D. Wilson way up in Levant, Maine is among Sox fans across New England trying to figure out just what is going on with the team this year.

It’s been one disaster after another, beginning with decisions management made last year.

And the won-loss record shows it seemingly getting even worse this summer.

Wilson made up a list:

1. Crochet, Roman, Story, Casas & Romy all start the 2026 season hurt. First three are among a group of the five best players.

2. Manager Alex Cora mentally checked out at the end the 2025 season.

3. Campbell and Bello both got long-term deals before either put up a good ML season.

4. Campbell was promoted to Boston in 2025 after compiling a .170 spring training average. He failed and was demoted.

5. Nick Sogard, the all-around best AAA player (six positions – one error) has been inexplicably stuck at Worcester for two years.

6. Early returns on the Caleb Durbin deal were not good. Lately he’s been helped by a private hitting coach.

7. Spending? Chief Sox officer Craig Breslow has spent about a half a billion on Suarez, Contreras, Gray, Crochet, Campbell, etc. (The Mets outspend almost everybody and they’ve stunk for decades.)

When Wilson tried to light a fire under the sleepy Boston sports media to start doing some real analysis he found them “pretty dismissive.”

Probably because he’s doing the work while they’re sitting in the booth on their fat lazy asses eating hot dogs.

“I’m a real estate appraiser who’d really love to be a sports writer,” Wilson told The Maine Wire.

From all appearances, he’s head and shoulders above the Boston sports scribblers when it comes to doing the real work – offering well-thought-out ideas as to what’s going on with the Red Sox.

Hey Boston Globe – give this man a job (especially since no one you have is currently doing it).

Maybe if this team changed its name and clothes, and called itself “ The Blue Sox “ , articles like this would get more comment’s.
