PORTLAND, Maine – The Portland Police Department reported 160 motor vehicle stops, more than 100 911 hang-up calls, and 16 arrests for criminal trespass as part of its latest weekly calls for service report.

The department releases weekly calls for service numbers as part of what it describes as a continued effort to provide transparency to the public. The weekly report includes top arrest charges, top calls for service, and selected incidents from the previous week.

Weekly arrest logs and daily media logs are also available through the city’s police statistics page at portlandmaine.gov/PDstats.

According to the latest numbers released by the department, criminal trespass was the top arrest charge for the week, with 16 arrests. Police also reported 10 arrests for violating conditions of release and 10 warrant arrests.

Other top arrest charges included seven arrests for assault and five arrests for unlawful possession of drugs.

The department’s top calls for service were led by motor vehicle stops, with officers conducting 160 stops during the reporting period. Police also responded to 114 911 hang-up calls, 94 calls involving a person or persons bothering others, 71 pedestrian checks, and 65 reports of suspicious activity.

The figures provide a weekly snapshot of the types of calls Portland officers are responding to across the city, ranging from traffic enforcement and pedestrian checks to disturbances, suspected criminal activity, and follow-up calls involving the court system.

Among the selected calls for service highlighted by the department was a May 27 incident at 140 Marginal Way.

Police said officers responded to that location after a woman reported discovering what appeared to be a hidden camera in a bathroom.

A report was taken by officers, and the incident remains under investigation.

The department did not release additional details about the Marginal Way incident in the weekly summary.

The Portland Police Department’s weekly call reports are intended to give residents a broader look at public safety activity in the city, including both routine calls and incidents selected for public awareness.

The latest report reflects a range of police activity, with criminal trespass, release violations, warrants, assault, and drug possession among the most common arrest charges listed for the week.
