“At my direction, the United States Southern Command delivered a swift and lethal kinetic strike to successfully execute Niรฑo Guerrero, the infamous leader of Tren De Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty terrorist organizations on Planet Earth,” said President Trump.
“Early in my Administration, I delivered on my promise to designate Tren de Aragua as a foreign terrorist organization,” he added.
Guerrero led the violent Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang designated as a terrorist organization.
Under President Joe Biden’s open borders policies as well as protected status for Venezuelan immigrants, the gang expanded their operations in the U.S.
Those operations allegedly included the complete takeover of a hotel in Texas, an apartment building in Colorado, and an infiltration of New York City.
President Trump claimed that, despite the U.S. military action against the Venezuelan government earlier this year, the strike against Guerrero was carried out with cooperation from the Venezuelan military.
“The operation underscores the shared U.S. and Venezuelan commitment to take the fight to narco-terrorists and deny them any safe haven in our hemisphere. We will continue to work closely with security partners, like Venezuela โ and counties in the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition (A3C) partners โ to take the fight to our enemies,” said Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.
