Vice President JD Vance is set to appear live and in studio on ABC’s daytime talk show The View on Tuesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. ET, marking his first-ever appearance on the program.
The interview also makes Vance only the third sitting vice president to appear on the show.
Vance is appearing on the program the same day his second memoir, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, is released. The book focuses on his conversion to Catholicism and how his spiritual journey has shaped his public service.
All six of The View’s co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro, are expected to be present in the New York studio for the live interview.
In addition to discussing his faith journey and new book, Vance is scheduled to address the Trump administration’s current goals, upcoming policy issues and participate in the show’s signature “Hot Topics” segment.
The appearance comes amid heightened political and regulatory tension surrounding the program.
The Federal Communications Commission, led by Trump-appointed Chairman Brendan Carr, is actively investigating The View over compliance with broadcast “equal-time” rules. The inquiry stems from the show’s interview with a Democratic political candidate earlier this year. Disney-ABC has pushed back on the inquiry, citing First Amendment protections, while the network continues to navigate broader regulatory battles over local station broadcast license renewals.
The program has also faced frequent criticism from conservatively aligned research groups over its guest lineup, with critics arguing that only a small fraction of guests featured over recent seasons have identified as conservative.
Vance’s appearance is expected to draw significant attention, given the co-hosts’ years of public criticism of his political evolution and role in the Trump administration.
Navarro has said she intends to press Vance on the administration’s foreign policy actions and ties to fringe online political movements. At the same time, ABC executives reportedly met with the hosts ahead of the interview to keep the tone focused and professional, prioritizing a serious news-division style interview rather than a chaotic media confrontation.
Social media reaction ahead of the appearance reflected the political friction surrounding the interview, with one popular comment reading, “Oh hell nah. Ana Navarro and Sunny better be there to bring the fire to the table.”

I don’t think these women quite realize who they are dealing with, or what he’s been through since a very young age. My guess is he’ll hold his own and then some.
Eddie is starting to look like Presidential material as well.
But can you imagine the outcry if they had an all male show? Six outspoken opinionated men who routinely offended the feminists and XYZ Community?
Vance is starting to look like Presidential material.
GRRRRRRRR……
I’ve never watched the view, although I’ve seen quite a few clips aired by conservative outlets. The ladies should watch Vance’s interview with Martha Raditz, “Martha, do you hear yourself?” At that moment I knew he was The Man.
