A fire that damaged a small camp in Montville was caused by the failure of a backup power bank being used to power office equipment, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Investigators responded to the property after the Montville Fire Department reported a structure fire involving the camp.

The property owner was not home when the fire broke out, and a neighboring resident reported the blaze, officials said.

Fire investigators interviewed witnesses and examined the scene before determining that the fire began on the first floor of the camp.

Investigators learned that electrical service had recently been restored to the area before the fire. Based on the evidence collected at the scene, officials classified the fire as accidental.

No injuries were reported.
