The Bangor Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday after he allegedly fired a rifle at a woman multiple times while she was at his home.

At approximately 5:18 p.m., police responded to a shelter on Union Street where a woman reported that she had been shot at.

She said that Stanley Swallow, 43, of Bangor, had fired a rifle at her multiple times during an altercation at his Sanford Street residence earlier in the day.

She escaped but allegedly suffered minor injuries, though she was not shot.

Officers later made contact with Swallow, arrested him, and executed a search warrant at his home.

He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail and charged with elevated aggravated assault, aggravated reckless conduct, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and violation of conditions of release.

Police provided no details on the cause of the altercation or information on why the victim was in Swallow’s home, though he was not charged with domestic violence, suggesting that they were not family members or domestic partners.

Swallow was arrested on June 1 after he allegedly fled police and was found in possession of methamphetamine.
