The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a Regional School Unit (RSU) 63 School Board member from Eddington wanted on charges related to the nearly fatal May drug overdose of an infant.
On Friday, the sheriff’s department issued a notice requesting public assistance in locating school board member Brittany Wood, 36, of Eddington.
She is wanted on an arrest warrant on charges of domestic violence aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The charges have been communicated to Wood and her attorney, but the suspect has not turned herself in.
The charges stem from a May 31 incident on Clewleyville Road in Eddington when a Penobscot sheriff’s supervisor saved the life of an infant by administering two doses of Narcan.
Now the primary suspect in the alleged overdose of an infant has been revealed to be a woman in a position of power over educational policy for a district that spans Clifton, Eddington, and Holden.
The Maine Wire reached out to the RSU 63 superintendent’s office for comment, but it did not immediately respond.
Wood remained on the district’s website as a board member as of Monday morning.

In December 2025, half of the district’s board members resigned, complaining of a lack of leadership, fiscal responsibility, and clear direction. Those members were removed from the district’s website the next day.
