The Waldoboro Police Department arrested a man on Friday over a week after he allegedly assaulted a man and stole his medication after trying to trade him fake cocaine for it.

On August 10, a man reported to the Sanford Police Department that he had been assaulted and robbed of his medication by an unknown male.

The investigation led police to identify Leroy Parker Jr., 36, of Waldoboro, as the suspect. Parker and the victim were not previously known to each other.

Police learned that the incident started when Parker, along with several other unidentified suspects in a vehicle, attempted to trade the victim fake crack cocaine for his medication.

When that didn’t work, Parker allegedly assaulted the victim and stole his medication.

Police believe that Parker deliberately targeted the victim due to his mental health issues and impaired cognitive ability.

On August 21, the Waldoboro Police Department arrested Parker on an arrest warrant charging him with felony robbery, felony stealing drugs, assault, and violating conditions of release.

Parker was subject to five active sets of bail conditions when he was arrested.

In 2013, Leroy Parker Jr. was charged with aggravated assault while already serving a sentence in the Maine State Prison following assault and robbery convictions after he allegedly assaulted another man with a padlock while incarcerated.
