The limp rag doll known as the Portland Press Herald pretended Monday to be nonpartisan.
But true to form the joke of a daily newspaper then showed its true illiteracy.
To wit, political columnist (so-called) Steve Collins was so proud of himself calling for “an impartial investigation” of an ICE-involved shooting Monday in Biddeford.
So far so good Steve.
Then he added, “not one led by Trump’s hired hands.”
And…then… “Nothing ICE is doing is worth the bloodshed and trauma it is causing. Today’s killing in Biddeford just emphasizes that reality.”
Says the “impartial” Steve Collins.
So within the blink of an eye Collins went from pretending to keep an open mind to deciding nah, let’s go back to a good partisan bashing of the Trump administration.
Translation: we don’t really want an investigation, just an excuse to whine about President Trump.
The good news is fewer and fewer people are wasting their time paying for the Portland Press Herald’s blather.
The numbers are irrefutable. The (free) Maine Wire reached a milestone Monday of 200,000 followers on Facebook while the (paywalled) Portland Press Herald remained at a pathetic 94,000.Numbers don’t lie.

I love how the PPH dropped its paywall as a “public service.”
I also think that Collins acted like a senator today saying what needed to be said as this should be investigated and we don’t know what happened and we need to be objective.
Now, can you imagine what the Oyster Fuher might be saying right now?
