Fear in the hearts of progressives

First, as a constituent of Sen. Susan Collins, I would like to thank her for her speech and her vote to affirm Judge Kavanaugh’s elevation to Justice Kavanaugh of the Supreme Court.  I thought her speech was spot on.

The whole proceeding before the Senate Judiciary Committee was nothing but sleight of hand to misdirect our attention from the progressive’s real purpose. Their real purpose is to sink the Trump Administration into the morass of resistance and to prevent Trump from rebuilding the economy, the military, the job market and country by any means necessary. This includes destroying the lives of good, innocent people in order to score political points; prime examples are the unnecessary destruction of Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh.

In my life time, the Supreme Court has been dominated by progressive justices. During the progressive reign, the concept of a “living” constitution was used by progressives to circumvent the limits placed on government by the written Constitution.

The written Constitution of our country is unique in the world because it is the only constitution designed to limit the powers of government, politicians, and hired bureaucrats. Its uniqueness comes from the concept that the people are responsible for their own destiny and have maximum freedom to pursue it. Government by the consent of the governed.

Progressives think that the role of government under the “living” constitution allows government to loosen the limits on government power until the people are reduced to serfs, dependent and subservient to government instead of being the government’s masters. Government without the consent of the governed.

The essential element that has sustained our Republic throughout its existence is the peaceful transition of power from one administration to another.  For the first time in my memory, and I believe U.S. history, we are witnessing a contested transfer of power from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration.

Many in Congress and the media just can’t get over the fact that they lost control of the government in 2016.  They lost more than the presidency, they lost the ability to cover up abuses of power through the loss of control over the justice apparatus, and now the Supreme Court. The establishment is afraid of a return to law based on the Constitution instead of law based solely on precedent and, more importantly, a return to government that is “instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

The result of this fear among progressives is a visceral lashing out at those who have defeated them at the polls; the rending of the traditional peaceful transfer of control from one administration to another. It is the only thing that can explain such abysmal behavior.

Their insistence on control by any means necessary can only lead to a socialist dictatorship; the total subjugation of the individual to the dictates of the political elites and government bureaucracies.  Taxes will go up, government services will go down and poverty will become the norm. This existential fear of the American people will only result in more violence and more lawlessness.
