Violent riots erupted across Dublin, Ireland Thursday evening following a knife attack earlier that day at an Irish elementary school that left three young children wounded.
According to the Irish Times, a five-year-old girl was taken to a Dublin hospital in critical condition, while a boy aged five, and a girl aged six sustained less serious injuries.
A woman in her 30s, who is reportedly an employee of the school, was also taken to the hospital after suffering serious injuries from the attack.
Passers-by were able to intervene and stop the suspected assailant shortly after the stabbing attack began, taking away the suspect’s knife and throwing it away, the Irish Times reported.
The violent protests broke out in response to reports that the person of interest in the stabbing was an Algerian national.
Irish national police, the Gardaí, have not identified the person of interest in the stabbing attack, but consider the main suspect a man in his late 40s or 50s who was also taken to the hospital for serious injuries.
The suspect was reported by the Times to be a naturalized Irish citizen who has lived in the country for 20 years.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris attributed the riots to a “lunatic, hooligan faction driven by far-right ideology.”
Police have arrested 34 people as a result of the riots.
Videos shared to X from the streets of Dublin show mobs of protestors taking to the streets, buses and police cars set on fire, and stores being looted.
Ireland’s Prime Minister Leo Varadkar condemned the protestors Friday morning, saying “These criminals did not do what they did because they love Ireland, they did not do what they did because they wanted to protect Irish people, they did not do it out of any sense of patriotism, however warped.”
“They did so because they’re filled with hate, they love violence, they love chaos, and they love causing pain to others,” Varadkar said.
Following the attacks, Irish superstar and UFC fighter Conor McGregor posted on X that if Ireland’s political leaders did not take action soon to prevent future attacks, then he would.
I do not condone last nights riots. I do not condone any attacks on our first responders in their line of duty. I do not condone looting and the damaging of shops. Last nights scenes achieved nothing toward fixing the issues we face. I do understand frustrations however, and I do… https://t.co/FFx7d0ZROb

Despicable scenes last night in Dublin City centre. People looting shops amidst the anger and rage Ireland has for the many failed policies of government. Has this regime ever had even one successful policy? Health service in shambles. Abominable housing crisis. Immigration wide… pic.twitter.com/7BgRKVcbEd

Algeria is 99.1% Sunni Muslim. Could that factor be a possible motive for the attack?
Back in 2018, the Irish (Leftist) government paid journalists to write favorable articles on its goal to import 1 million Muslim migrants into Ireland which now has a population of @ 5 million. What could possibly go wrong?
