South Portland Police announced Friday morning that man has been arrested in connection to the robbery of Key Bank last week.

South Portland Police responded to Key Bank at 445 Gorham Rd. in South Portland for a reported robbery last Friday, Jan. 26 shortly before noon.

After an initial investigation, police released photos of a person of interest in the case, which led to several tips from the public and eventually resulted in the identification of a suspect.

On Thursday, Feb. 1, at around 10 p.m. the South Portland Police located the suspect inside of his parked vehicle on Mabel Street in Portland, and took him into custody without incident.

Jason P. Arsenault, 41, who police say is a “transient male,” was charged with Robbery (Class A), Theft (Class B), Terrorizing (Class C), and Unauthorized Use of Property (Class D).

South Portland Police say Arsenault led investigators to the location of nearly all of the $30,000 that was stolen during last week’s robbery.

He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail on $25,000 bail, and is expected to be arraigned Friday, Feb. 2.
