“Join this family-friendly community gathering and help celebrate all of the trees in our Forest City!” the city wrote in a press release regarding the event.
According to a flyer for the event, in addition to “Hug a tree,” planned activities for the event include joining the city’s park ranger for a “sensory awakening and forest bathing session,” a “Story time,” touching a forestry truck, and meeting city employees in the Parks Division.
A “forest bath” refers to a Japanese meditation technique where one spends time in a forest or natural environment that has become trendy in the United States.
Hey Portland – YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!
For those who participate in this drivel and actually hug a tree, you’d better hope the tree was sanitized.
I love trees they make the coal for the next 1000 years.
…what the heck, let’s just let them have the whole month of May…that is if the LGBTQRS+++++ haven’t already laid claim to it!
Speaking of yard work why are there so many froigen looking workers in my area working on lawns? They do not look like Mainers.
Oh my word!!! Ridiculous. Must be some leftover old hippies in city gov’t.
I had to check the date! I thought it must be April fools day!
