According to court records, 30-year-old Tyquinn Montell Cannon, aka “Q”, of Syracuse, N.Y., conspired with others in both Maine and N.Y. to illegally obtain firearms from federally licensed dealers in central and southern Maine through the use of straw purchasers.

Cannon, who per the U.S. Attorney’s Office is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition due to a March 2018 conviction in Illinois for the illegal possession of cocaine, would deliver or arrange the delivery of the illegally obtained firearms from Maine to coconspirators located in N.Y.

On the firearms possession charge, Cannon faces up to 15 years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.

For the conspiracy charge, Cannon could receive a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
