Pew Research released new polling results on Thursday covering numerous cultural issues which could prove to be key issues during the November election, including American’s response to radical gender ideology.

“The 2024 presidential campaign is taking place amid intense debates over such topics as immigration, growing racial and ethnic diversity in the United States, the changing American family, crime and reproductive issues,” said Pew research.
The organization polled over 8,000 American adults with various political and religious affiliations, and from various racial backgrounds, asking for their opinions on numerous key cultural issues.
Polling results on issues related to gender and sexuality show that a significant majority of Americans reject the key claim of radical gender ideology that states that gender is utterly divorced from biological sex.
Polling found that 65 percent of U.S. adults agree that biological sex determines gender, rather than arbitrary feelings or some other metric, and do not believe that gender can be changed.
Supporters of President Donald Trump were largely united in their denial of radical gender ideology, with 90 percent believing gender is based on biological sex, while Biden supporters were far less unified.
Although the majority of Biden voters, 59 percent, do not believe gender is determined by biological sex, a sizable amount, 39 percent, sided against the progressive orthodoxy and denied radical gender ideology.
When poll responses were broken down by race, results show a stark racial divide among Democrats on the topic of transgenderism. While just 32 percent of white Biden supporters believe biological sex determines gender, 64 percent of black Biden voters broke supported that position.
Interestingly, only 70 percent of black Republicans acknowledged the reality of biological sex, far lower than the percentage of the party as a whole.
In total, 34 percent of voters denied that biological sex determines gender.
The number of Americans who espouse radical gender ideology has dropped steadily since 2017.
In 2017, only a slim majority, 53 percent, agreed that biological sex determines gender, but that number has been claiming steadily in subsequent years.
That trend is maintained when only looking at data for Democrats, 68 percent of whom denied the link between biological sex and gender in 2017, compared to only 59 percent now.
The same poll also found that a minority of voters, 43 percent, are comfortable with gender-neutral pronouns, with 66 percent of Biden voters, and 20 percent of Trump voters accepting gender-neutral pronouns.
The poll also found that a minority of voters believe that an increasing number of people identifying as gay or lesbian is a bad thing, and most support, or are indifferent towards gay marriage.
Even among Republicans, only 51 percent opposed same-sex marriage and 53 percent believed that having more gay and lesbian identifying people is harmful for the country.
When analyzing views on racial politics, Pew found that a small majority, 51 percent believe in “white privilege,” the idea that white people receive societal benefits not available to black people, while 53 percent believe that black people still suffer from slavery, which was abolished before the lifetime of anyone now living in the U.S.
Twenty-two percent of Trump voters accepted the idea of white privilege, and 27 percent believe the effects of slavery remain an issue today.
According to the poll, the number of people who believe in the existence of white privilege has dropped by a dramatic 8 percentage points since just four years ago.
Much of that percentage drop came from Democrat voters after the percentage of Democrats who believe in white privilege peaked at 90 percent in 2020.
That number currently sits at 82 percent, which nevertheless remains higher than it was in 2016 and 2017, when it sat at 78 and 81 percent respectively.
The poll found that a 65 percent majority of Americans believe that diversity is a strength of U.S. society, while only 11 percent believe that diversity weakens society.

Currently, 59 percent of respondents believe that illegal immigrants already in the U.S. should be granted legal status, but that number is shrinking from its recent peak at 77 percent in 2017.
An increasing minority of Americans also support mass deportation efforts, the poll concluded.
When asking about family issues, Pew found that only 39 percent believe that marriage and family should be a societal priority, despite declining birthrates.
Interestingly, men (44 percent) were far more likely than women (34 percent) to say that society should prioritize marriage and family, with that trend continuing among both Democrats and Republicans.

Women were also slightly more likely than men to believe that a declining birthrate was good for society.
Results show that a significant majority, 62 percent, of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in most or all cases, with 25 percent believing that there should be no restrictions whatsoever, and only 7 percent believing that it should be illegal in all cases.
Even among Republicans, 38 percent believed that it should be legal in most or all cases.
A large majority of voters, 79 percent, support widespread access to birth control.
When it comes to crime, a majority, 61 percent, of voters believe that the U.S. justice system should be tougher on criminals, with 80 percent of Trump supporters and 40 percent of Democrats supporting harsher criminal penalties.
Only 13 percent of total voters believe that the criminal justice system is too tough.
In the final section of the poll, Pew found that a slim majority, just 52 percent of voters, believe that the government should uphold gun rights, while only 19 percent of Biden voters supported 2nd Amendment rights.
