Biden Sends Letter to Congressional Democrats Affirming his Plan to Remain in the Race

Amid growing calls for President Joe Biden to drop out of the presidential, Biden sent a letter on Monday urging congressional Democrats to rally behind him and reaffirming his plan to remain in the race and receive the party’s nomination.

“I wouldn’t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best to beat Donald Trump in 2024. We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters spoke clearly and decisively,” said President Biden, “Do we now just say this process didn’t matter? That the voters don’t have a say?”

This morning, I sent a letter to my fellow Democrats on Capitol Hill. In it, I shared my thoughts about this moment in our campaign.

Biden attempted to reassure congressional democrats that, despite their growing concerns over his mental capacity, he is the best candidate to defeat former President Trump.

He argued that he must continue in the race because he was selected by voters in the Democrat primary, where he received an overwhelming 87 percent of the vote.

He also took aim at Democrat politicians, media outlets, and donors who have been calling for his removal following fears that his mental decline will lead to a victory for Trump.

“I feel a deep obligation to the faith and trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year. It was their decision to make. Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors,” said Biden.

Before the year’s first presidential debate, Democrat politicians and mainstream media outlets attempted to deny that Biden’s age would be a problem for his ability to govern, or that he was declining mentally.

Following his catastrophic debate performance, many on the left have changed their stance on Biden, and have called for him to step down.

While Biden maintained his plan to stay in the race, he did not directly address concerns over his mental decline.

He acknowledged that he has “heard concerns” but failed to discuss the reason for the concerns or address his mental state.

“I have heard the concerns that people have– their good faith fears and worries about what is at stake in this election. I am not blind to them. Believe me, I know better than anyone the responsibility and burden the nominee of our party carries,” said Biden.

Rather than using his letter to soften concerns about his ability to govern the country for four more years, Biden criticized Trump’s record, and bragged about job growth numbers which have been consistently revised down shortly after their publication.

Biden’s letter came just days after he told ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos that he would only step down if “the Lord Almighty” physically descended from the heavens and told him not to run.

During that interview, Biden defended his debate performance by claiming that he had a cold, and that he was exhausted by travel, despite spending a week sequestered at Camp David directly before the debate.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the original wasn’t written in crayon. The sad thing about the elder abuse going on is he still has 45% of the population that think he’s sharp as a tack. They’re so torn about removing one of their own on the same charge they tried to pin on Trump. The may not like Trump but they can use that against him anymore.
