The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jason A. Rocque, 47, after he was allegedly found with multiple firearms in his Chelsea home on Friday morning, despite being prohibited from possessing guns.
Deputy Brandon Van Wyk executed a search warrant at Rocque’s home at 274 Windsor Road following an investigation that began earlier this month.
Van Wyk’s investigation allowed him to establish probable cause that Rocque was illegally in possession of firearms as a convicted felon, and on this basis, he was able to obtain a search warrant.
He and other deputies discovered six firearms in the Rocque residence: three rifles and three shotguns, along with multiple boxes of ammunition.
Roque, previously convicted of felony drug trafficking in 2000, faces a new felony charge of Possession of Firearms by a Prohibited Person, along with a misdemeanor charge of Violating Conditions of Release.
He was transported to the Kennebec County Jail and awaits a determination of his bail by a judge. Under Maine state law, Rocque could face a maximum sentence of up to five years imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.

These articles never cease to amaze me. Ok so the guy broke the law by being a felon and having firearms… NOTED! But there is no limit on how many firearms a non felon can own, please correct me if I’m wrong!? Im kind of surprised at The Maine Wire for reporting this like MSM. You should point out that there is no limit on how many guns a person can own in Maine. I see another comment where someone said “i don’t see any assault rifles” obviously referring to the AR platform which stands for ArmaLite Rifle. The only thing that makes any gun an assault rifle is the person that is holding it! You could have an assault feather 🪶 if you used the quill to poke someone’s eyes out! If you used any of the firearms pictured to assault someone than it could be considered an assault rifle no matter what it looks like or how big the clip is. BUT PLEASE DO NOT DO THE GUN GRABBERS BIDDING FOR THEM!
Hello , so let me make a few things clear. These were my 2 girls guns , all of them ! The 30-06 and 7mm has been passed down in my family and was the girls. but , they never used them . Also they left a bunch of ammo and gun cases here . All ammo was together in a separate cabinet in closet and guns were in a locked gun cabinet in living room. The gun case the .22 cricket was in they left probably 300 rounds of ammo and left right on my bed.. and i have pictures. My sister and daughter found when they came back to pick up the mess they mad while i was in jail.. ok and there was 3-4 sheriffs in there and either they are really incompetent or trying to set me up , because now they can come any time they want.
And they reason they came to begin with is because my fiance of 25yrs , who purchased 3 of them guns moved out last July but never toulk any of her stuff , so i brought over a few loads and put at end of there driveway , and they didn’t like it and they don’t like hunting whatsoever so this is how they get me back.. lol its really crazy. Joe and Sharon mertzel and there daughter jody. And I love that woman more than the air i breath and dedicated my whole life to my family and she hits metapause and now i don’t even know who she is. Not the woman I fell in love with many years ago. . But back to the guns , my parents toulk them target practicing a few times and they didn’t like the bang. After my one time screw up in 2000 I fell in love with archery , and then crossbow. And my whole family is all about the outdoors and I tried to pass down everything I learned onto them. Its not there fault I made a mistake many years ago. Also my record was literally nothing before the 2000 incident , not even a parking ticket. And after that I got a few small violation like inspection sticker or unregistered motor vehicle. Maybe 2 things and thats it. I did pay my debt to society i feel and continue to this day. I volunteer at food Bank and pick up trash on my road in Chelsea. I’m fully disabled , I have advanced multiple sclerosis and is progressing fast . I’m on literally like 15 different meds. And that day in jail they wouldn’t give me any wich the sheriff wouldn’t let me take them before I left he said they will give them to u there. Lol and I didn’t get any , they said well we need to contact your Dr then the pharmacy then have to arrange to get them and could not be until Monday lol hear it is Friday. And come noon time I was curled up in a ball wrapped in a blanket laying on a bench in lock up. And I have severe anxiety and depression and that didn’t go over well . But sorry for rambling on , but I made 1 mistake in my life and owned it and since then I have started a business and a family and own a home and did everything I was supposed to do . Yes I know I’m not supposed to have guns. Really I never used then and last time one of my girls shot any of them. 22 ,or either of the 410’s and 1 20guage , was never shot i don’t think. 410 pump my youngest shot her 1st turkey 2 years ago with my stepfather . But both love the crossbows and my youngest got a compound for Christmas and she will be trying that this year. But I not once brought either with a fire arm . I have a video of my youngest and I when she shot her 1st bear with crossbow. And outher videos of us with crossbow. But in all this what hurts the most is the big deal made about this and how this has affected me and my family. Because of some rat cowards. And if you nee everything I have done for them.
. It would help to have support on July 8th at my 1st court appearance. Everyone that knows me knows what type of person I am. When I when to prison for the 2000 charge I only ended up there for like 6montgs before I was released on house arrest to work for the mayor of Gardiner and his wife wich is county commissioner. I guess I should have gotten a pardon. But where they left all that ammo. And I’m talking a few thousand rounds. That hopefully gets thrown out. I spoke to the cop that served the warrant and he said yeah I must have missed it but no big deal , and I said no big deal ! What about when u come back to do another search and find it ? He said oh id assume it was left here from the 1st time lmfao I almost had a heart attack. I couldn’t believe he said that ! Like hell !! I would be locked up without bail !! Also the told my daughter it would be in your best interests to cooperate with me and tell me where the guns are and what they are and does your father use them and she just kept saying she didn’t know and they kept pushing and her grandparents who called originally was trying to force her to cooperate with them, because they just co signed for a car for her and using that agents her. This is what I’m dealing with. And jody had a restraining order me now ! And now can’t see my youngest. So here I sit by myself now.
