A multi-day Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in the Boston, Massachusetts area last week led to the arrests of 370 illegal immigrant criminals, including fugitives wanted for murder, child sexual predators, drug traffickers, and other violent criminals.
“I made a promise at CPAC that I was going to Boston after reading about numerous illegal alien child rapists walking the streets of Boston and Massachusetts. ICE had to find and arrest these illegal alien rapists because Massachusetts and Boston are sanctuaries that refuse to cooperate with ICE. They would rather release these animals back into the community rather than honor ICE detainers or notify ICE when they are scheduled to be released,” said Border Czar Tom Homan.
“[Boston] Mayor [Michelle] Wu later testified that I was lying. Well, I traveled to Boston last Tuesday, as promised, and we kicked off a five day operation with ICE, FBI, ATF, DEA, US Marshals and DSS. These incredible men and women arrested a total of 370 Illegal aliens in Boston and surrounding areas,” he added.
According to Homan, the operation, which included numerous other federal agencies, led to the arrest of 370 illegal immigrants in Boston and the surrounding suburbs. The majority of the illegal aliens arrested were “significant criminals” guilty of other crimes in addition to illegally entering the U.S. and posing a threat to public safety.
The detained illegal immigrants included six foreign fugitives, four of whom were wanted for murder, along with others accused of child sexual abuse, drug trafficking, or violent offenses.
“These officers and agents made the neighborhoods of Boston and Massachusetts much safer. They risked their own safety by arresting these criminals on the street, rather than a jail. Governor [Maura] Healy [D-Mass.] and Mayor Wu should be ashamed of supporting sanctuary policies. Releasing public safety threats back into the public, rather than working with ICE at the jails, puts the public at great risk,” said Homan.
He celebrated the enforcement operation as a success of the Trump Administration’s policy of focusing on the worst criminals in the country illegally first. He vowed that, although much more remains to be done to protect the U.S. from illegal immigrant criminals, enforcement activities will continue.
“Much more to do, but it will be done,” said Homan.
ICE Boston provided further details on the operation and more specifics about some of the criminals arrested. According to the organization, the “enhanced targeted operation” targeted members of violent transnational gangs—designated as foreign terrorist organizations by President Donald Trump—including MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Trinitarios, and 18th Street.
Over the course of the operation, law enforcement seized 44 kilograms of methamphetamine, 5 kilograms of fentanyl, and 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, along with three firearms.
“Safeguarding the integrity of the immigration and citizenship process is critical. We simply can’t permit violent and dangerous criminals to enter or remain in the United States under false pretenses, with unknown allegiances and intentions. It’s a direct threat to public safety and our national security,” said Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Boston Division Jodi Cohen.
Out of those arrested, 205 faced significant criminal charges or had a history of significant convictions. Enforcers arrested a Chilean national in Marlborough, Mass., charged with four counts of sexual battery against a child under 14 years of age.
One Honduran illegal immigrant apprehended in Salem, Mass., allegedly re-entered the U.S. illegally after being convicted of raping a minor.
In New Bedford, Mass., authorities arrested a Guatemalan charged with rape and convicted of enticing a minor under the age of 16, who was reportedly released by the New Bedford District Court in defiance of an ICE detainer.
Because Massachusetts is a sanctuary state and has laws preventing inmates from being held solely for immigration offenses, illegal immigrants who post bail cannot be further detained based on their illegal status.
According to an investigation conducted by CBS News, Massachusetts courts appear to be abusing the law to ensure that illegal immigrants charged with egregious crimes, including child sexual assault, do not face deportation.
The report pointed to multiple instances where child rapists and drug traffickers were issued relatively low bails and released after they paid, despite ICE detainers ordering their continued incarceration.
Worcester County held two illegal immigrant inmates charged with child rape in the past six months. They were issued measly $500 bail requirements. They were able to pay those bails and were released back into society, until they were eventually arrested by ICE.
The CBS report affirms Homan’s criticism that the Massachusetts and Boston governments have actively interfered with his agency’s ability to enforce the law and remove rapists and other dangerous criminals from American streets.
Please come to Maine Tom Homan!
Start with Janet’s 300+ Chinese military poisoned pot shops. Someone in Maine is warning the perps to vacate the premises shortly before the State Police arrive. Sneak up on them with a big net and do not trust the Maine AG.
Bring the cavalry we are compromised up here.
The roads will be clear now.
Yes Sue the Democratic paper people who lie about our fighters are extremely troubling and you should investigate the reporter!!!
Where was Wu to block all this? She’s been making statement after statement about this kind of thing. You’ve heard it: “this is our city” and the rest of that claptrap.
thank you tom Homan and trump for getting rid of these illegals
