President Donald Trump’s administration is taking new steps to crack down on illegal immigration this month, with fines of nearly $1,000 per day for immigrants who ignore deportation orders and a deadline for illegal immigrants to register with the government.
“We are going to start fining illegal immigrants $1,000 a day if they remain in the country. The message is loud and clear,” said Department of Homeland Security (DHA) Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin speaking on Newsmax.
“If you don’t leave now, and you’re in this country illegally, we will find you, we will arrest you, and we will deport you, and you will not come back, so it’s in your best interest to leave this country now on your own accord,” she added.
On March 31, DHS warned illegal immigrants to self-deport using the repurposed CBP Home app—originally called CBP One under the Biden administration and intended to help illegal immigrants entering the country—or face severe penalties.
The agency warned that failure to comply with a deportation order will result in a fine of up to $998 per day if individuals remain in the country after a final deportation order. There will also be a fine of between $1,000 and $5,000 for remaining in the country after promising to self deport. Failure to self-deport will also result in possible prison time and a prohibition on re-entering the U.S. through legal channels.
Illegal immigrants who opt to self-deport using the app will be able to pick their own departure flight, which could be subsidized with government funds if the illegal immigrant cannot afford the tickets. They will also be able to keep the money they earned while in the U.S. and will have the potential opportunity to re-enter the U.S. through the legal immigration process.
Last week, Reuters revealed more details on the plan to fine illegal immigrants. The outlet reported that the Trump Administration will use a 1996 law to enforce the fines. An anonymous administration source told the outlet that the fines will be applied retroactively up to five years into the past and could result in fines over $1 million.
The outlet reportedly reviewed government emails suggesting that the federal government could seize the properties of illegal immigrants who refuse to pay their fines.
As DHS works to impose fines on illegal immigrants, a federal judge ruled in favor of the Trump Administration last week, allowing the department to move forward with its mandatory registration program for illegal immigrants.
In accordance with a day one executive order from Trump, DHS will ensure that illegal immigrants register with the federal government. Registration requires an illegal immigrant to appear for fingerprinting by DHS and to carry a department-issued proof of registration at all times.
Illegal immigrants were technically required to register before the order, but Trump has worked to ensure that the requirement is actually enforced.
Failure to comply with the registration requirements could result in a $5,000 fine and six months in jail. The requirements went into effect on Friday.
Get them out of here !
We will be better off without them .
Come , clean out Maine. I am tired of the Maine Democrat’s and their BS

What are the democrats going to do now? Most of their future voters are being aborted. Doing this will lessen the pool. MAIL-IN VOTES after they get deported?
75k deportations in 3 months seems like a pretty good start but you’re right it should be more. I think once the federal rouge judges are taken care of thing will go a lot faster. Remember that bald, bug-eye guy biden’s auto pen put in charge? You know the one who said nothing could be done until the laws were changed? Makes you wonder what else they were lying about?
Lying or just incompetent? Could go either way.
