A 30-year-old Lewiston man was arrested on Monday after an investigation showed that he allegedly used a social media account to send sexually explicit material of children under 12.
Lewiston Police executed a search warrant at 29 Elm St. on Monday following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to the Maine Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Police obtained a search warrant to a social media provider and identified Christopher Benning, 30, of Lewiston, as a suspect.

According to police, records from the social media provider showed that Benning had been using the social media account to send sexually explicit material of children under 12.
Police seized multiple electronic devices during their search.
Benning was arrested and charged with two counts of dissemination of sexually explicit material of children under 12 and was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.
Police say Benning is being held without bail pending judicial review.
