The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday that three suspects have been arrested in connection to a burglary at a Dixfield convenience store.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, at about 2:45 a.m. on Monday, Deputy Derek MacDonald responded to a burglary alarm at Ellis’s Variety on Weld Street in Dixfield.

Upon further investigation, Deputy MacDonald learned that two masked suspects had forced their way into the business at around 2:45 a.m., ultimately leaving with a small amount of cash and rolled coins totaling about $820.

Later in the day on Monday, the deputy learned that a female subject had been in another nearby store making purchases with rolled up coins that matched the ones stolen from Ellis’s Variety.

Using video surveillance footage, the Sheriff’s Office was able to identify a number of likely suspects, leading to the execution of a search warrant at 14 Third St. in Dixfield that evening.

Three suspects were found inside of the residence and were arrested.

Stolen property, latex gloves, opened coin rolls and clothing items worn during the robbery were also located in the residence, as well as .28 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine), the Sheriff’s Office said.

The three suspects arrested were:

  • Shawn Morrison, 25, of Dixfield, charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief;
  • Justin Perry, 32, of Dixfield, charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions of release and criminal mischief;
  • Melanie Kinney, 51, of Dixfield, charged with receiving stolen property and possession of scheduled drugs.
