Tyquinn Montell Cannon, 32, who went by the name “Q” was sentenced on Monday after he pleaded guilty last year for his role in the conspiracy.

Beginning in May 2022, Cannon, who was previously convicted of felony drug offense and thus prohibited from owning firearms, worked with co-conspirators to obtain firearms from federally licensed firearms dealers in central and Southern Maine.

The co-conspirators would arrange for straw purchases of the firearms, using non-prohibited individuals to make the purchases and who would then illegally transfer the weapons to Cannon.

Cannon would then traffic the firearms into New York, where he would deliver them to other conspirators operating there.

In September 2022, law enforcement found Cannon in possession of a Glock handgun, which had been obtained in Maine via a straw purchase.

Cannon pled guilty to charges of conspiring to violate federal firearms laws and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and faces 45 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) conducted the investigation with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police.
