Pity the problems of the rich and famous.

Kitchen and style guru Martha Stewart needed a pool so what to do?

Here’s an idea: buy your neighbor’s $3 million mansion and demolish it!

Now that’s the way to make room for a pool.

The circa-1900 mansion was next to Stewart’s cottage on Mount Desert Island.

After buying it she decided it was too far gone to fix up so she went to Plan B.

The town’s planning board last month approved Stewart’s request to build a pool and pool house with a hot tub, bathroom and, why of course – a kitchen!

Stewart’s development team told the board that the neighbor’s cottage at Ox Ledge estate wasn’t salvageable.

The property, next to her summer home at Seal Harbor, included a 17-room mansion when she bought it.

The 100-by-20-foot pool is to be created from the walls of the former home’s basement.

The 5-acre lot has views of Northeast Harbor.

Stewart, 84, said got the idea for the pool after demolishing the house.

“The basement contained a massive and glorious pink granite rock – part of the landscape,” Stewart wrote on Instagram. “I immediately thought the large basement with its unique perimeter shape and interior depth would make the perfect swimming pool.”

Stewart has owned Skylands, the 60-acre former estate of Edsel Ford, the only child of Henry Ford, for nearly 30 years.

The New Jersey native began modeling as a teenager. She’s been a stock broker as well as what she’s famous for – food, style, gardening and hospitality.
