Deputies responded to the area of 825 Hallowell Road in Pownal at approximately 12:00 p.m. following reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Zachary Cooperstein, 36, of Gray, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was reportedly returning to his vehicle following a walk in the woods when he was struck by a white Toyota Camry.

The driver allegedly stopped, briefly made contact with Cooperstein, then left the scene before law enforcement arrived.

Now, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department is requesting public assistance in locating the vehicle and driver, described as an older female.
