A Bath is facing a slew of charges after allegedly ramming into a Brunswick police cruiser twice on Thursday while fleeing from law enforcement.
At around 10:56 a.m., Brunswick police officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Route 1 near Cooks Corner after observing an alleged criminal traffic offense.
Instead of stopping, the driver, Emily Schroder, 33, of Bath, allegedly fled at high speed.
Police began a pursuit, but it was quickly terminated.
Minutes later, an officer located the vehicle on Oak Street in Brunswick. Schroder allegedly saw the parked police officer who had spotted her and intentionally rammed into the front of his cruiser.
She then reportedly reversed and struck the cruiser again, even harder. The officer inside the vehicle was not injured.
Schroder reportedly fled, with other officers pursuing her.
The pursuit spanned through Topsham, Bowdoin, and Bowdoinham before Schroder entered I-295 northbound, traveling at reportedly “extreme” speeds, leading officers to once again terminate the pursuit.
Later that day, Schroder was found at a gas station in Richmond, and officers from the Richmond Police Department, the Maine State Police, and the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department took her into custody.
She was initially transported to Mid Coast Hospital for a medical evaluation, then brought to Cumberland County Jail, where she is being held without bail.
Schroder faces charges of eluding an officer, refusing to submit to arrest, aggravated criminal mischief, criminal speeding, driving to endanger, assault on an officer, and violating conditions of release.
