Deputies of the Penobscot County Sheriff arrested an armed, homeless sex offender in Stetson with help from some canine friends after he allegedly fled through the woods while absconding from probation following multiple felony convictions.
At approximately 10:22 a.m. on Thursday, Penobscot deputies responded to a residence on Mullen Road in Stetson after probation officers requested assistance in apprehending a suspect, Mackenzie Kori Sibley, 40, who is homeless and was wanted on a probation revocation warrant after allegedly absconding from his probation resulting from multiple felony convictions.
Sibley allegedly barricaded himself in the residence’s bathroom when law enforcement arrived, and the police believed that he was armed with a large hunting knife.
Due to Sibley’s extensive criminal history, law enforcement requested additional resources, including assistance from the Penobscot K9 unit, Memphis.
As the K9 unit traveled to the residence, Sibley allegedly fled out the back door of the residence and ran into the woods on foot, with deputies in pursuit.
K9 Memphis was deployed to aid in the pursuit, and deputies warned local residents to be on the lookout for Sibley.
The search continued for hours, and a local resident eventually provided police with footage from one of his trail cameras showing Sibley.
Deputies brought K9 Memphis to Sibley’s last known location, as shown on the trail camera.
The K9 was able to lead deputies to Sibley from there through thick woods.
Deputies arrested Sibley without further incident, and he faces charges related to his arrest warrant as well as an additional charge for refusing to submit to arrest.

Sibley is a registered sex offender following a conviction for the sexual abuse of a minor.
