The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), a left-wing super PAC, finally decided to add Matt Dunlap to its Red to Blue fundraising initiative on Thursday after the PAC previously added his primary opponent Sen. Joe Baldacci (D-Penobscot) to the program.

“Big news: we just made the @DCCC’s Red to Blue list. It’s now clear: the path to a Democratic majority runs through this district. This happened because of you — the volunteers, the doors, the small-dollar donors. You showed that this race is winnable, and together we’re going to prove it,” said Dunlap on X.
The DCCC’s Red to Blue initiative allocates fundraising resources to candidates the organization believes will help flip the U.S. House to Democratic control during the midterms.
Since winning his upset primary victory thanks to ranked choice voting, Dunlap has faced some difficulty in drawing national resources and support from the DCCC.
The super PAC delayed in endorsing him after his primary win; then, later, his fundraising page on its website was deactivated until multiple news outlets, including The Maine Wire, highlighted the deactivation.
Now, finally, Dunlap will be able to take advantage of the Red to Blue resources that would have been offered to Sen. Baldacci immediately had he won the primary.
