At approximately 10:30 a.m., Officer Keith Larby responded to a Main Street business for reports of a man acting strangely.
After speaking with employees at the business, Larby removed the man, Jason Ladd, 42, homeless, from the business and issued him a criminal trespass warning preventing him from coming to the business for a year.
The officer went inside to continue speaking with employees.
While inside, Larby allegedly witnessed Ladd attacking another man outside.
Larby went outside and separated Ladd from the alleged victim and took him into custody.
The victim told Larby that he was uninjured and did not need medical attention.
Ladd was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he was charged with assault.
