The Bangor Police Department arrested a Bangor man on domestic violence charges Wednesday after a neighbor heard the victim of an attack shouting from inside her home.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., police responded to a call for assistance made from a nearby house. When officers arrived in the area, they quickly identified the residence from which they could hear a woman screaming.

As they approached, Officer Casey Walden allegedly witnessed Jesse Ramsdell, 28, of Bangor, actively assaulting the victim, who was calling for help.

Police entered the residence and stopped the reported attack. An investigation determined that Ramsdell had allegedly choked and restrained the victim.

They discovered that the child living in the residence had also allegedly been assaulted.

Police arrested Ramsdell and transported him to the Penobscot County Jail, where he faces charges of domestic violence, aggravated assault, domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, and criminal restraint.
