The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department arrested two suspects in Orrington on Monday during the execution of a search warrant following a months-long investigation into multiple burglaries and thefts in the area.

Deputies executed a search warrant at a Ruby Lane residence at around 5:00 p.m. after securing the warrant following months of investigation.

During the search, deputies seized over 60 grams of methamphetamine, ammunition, a stolen truck, and a stolen motorcycle.

Law enforcement arrested Carl McCullough, 49, of Orrington, and Michael Smith, 60, of Brewer.

McCullough does not appear in the Penobscot County Jail’s list of inmates.

McCullough faces charges of burglary and theft, while Smith faces a charge of unlawful trafficking in Schedule W drugs.

The search led law enforcement to additional evidence that the Brewer Police Department discovered after executing a warrant for a residence in that city later Monday evening, though it is not clear if that search resulted in any arrests.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges and arrests could be forthcoming.
