South Berwick police arrested three suspects after a reported home invasion and assault early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Police responded to a residence on Agamenticus Road just before 1 a.m. for a report of a break-in and attack. Officers said the suspects forced their way into the home and assaulted the resident before fleeing the scene.

According to police, the suspects were located a short time later and taken into custody. All three are facing charges connected to the break-in and assault.

The resident was evaluated for injuries, police said. The incident remains under investigation.
