A Wood Road home was leveled Tuesday night after a fast-moving fire tore through the structure, prompting a multi-agency response and an ongoing investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Wayne Fire Department arrived at 29 Wood Road around 6:25 p.m. to find the residence already fully engulfed. Firefighters requested state investigators soon after reaching the scene.

All occupants escaped the home, though one individual sustained a minor injury and was transported by Winthrop Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation.

Due to the extensive damage, investigators say the cause of the fire is currently undetermined. The inquiry remains active.

Several surrounding departments were called in under mutual aid to help bring the fire under control.
