The Portland Police Department arrested six anti-ICE protesters after they surrounded hotels on Friday night, banging drums and causing a disturbance, and refused to obey law enforcement orders to leave.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., police responded to the Residence Inn at 145 Fore Street and the AC Hotel at 168 Fore Street for reports of disturbances.

Initially, police believed that the protesters were not causing any issues, but at approximately 10:20 p.m., a group of about 40 protesters allegedly began causing a disturbance by banging drums and blowing whistles.

The noise disturbed hotel guests and others in the area.

Police repeatedly warned protesters that if they did not disperse, they would be arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.

Some protesters reportedly refused to comply, and at approximately 11:00 p.m., Portland police arrested six of them and transported them to the Cumberland County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct.

Police arrested:

  • Andrew Mantenieks, 25, of East Orland
  • Samuel Pecor, 30, of Biddeford
  • Amelia Fleming, 26, of Nobleboro
  • Meghan Morrison, 28, of Portland
  • Savanah Roberge, 19, of Somersworth, N.H.
  • John Clark, 30, of Windham

The protest took place just one day after another incident at the 145 Fore Street Residence Inn, where protesters also banged drums and caused a disturbance, believing that ICE agents were staying at the hotel.

An anti-ICE mob mobilized outside the Residence Inn in Portland last night over suspicions that ICE agents could be staying in the hotel.

That protest led to a criminal summons for Peach Cushing, 28, of Brunswick, on charges of disorderly conduct.
