At around 2:40 a.m., Waterville police officers responded to reports of a domestic incident at 267 Main Street.
When officers arrived, they were reportedly able to develop probable cause to charge a male occupant of the residence, Christopher Bryant, 49, of Fairfield, with domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing.
Bryant reportedly refused to submit to arrest and remained inside the building, sparking a standoff.
During the standoff, police shut down a portion of Main Street, and the Oakland and Fairfield Police Departments responded to assist with the arrest.
Crisis negotiators from the Waterville Police Department responded to the scene and successfully convinced Bryant to exit the building peacefully.
Bryant was arrested at approximately 6:45 a.m., about four hours after police first responded. Strangely, he was not charged with causing the standoff.
Despite facing domestic violence charges and allegedly causing a standoff, Bryant was issued bail of just $200, with a court date set for March 3.
