At approximately 3:15 a.m., the Bangor Police Department responded to a Center Street apartment after the tenant reported that someone was attempting to break in.
Strangely, the caller did not want the suspect arrested but simply wanted the police to make him leave.
Police arrived and located a man matching the description given by the caller, identifying him as Hunter Targon, 20, of Bangor.
Officers initially heeded the caller’s request and ordered Targon to leave and not return.
After sending Targon away, officers remained on the scene, and just minutes later, they allegedly witnessed him returning to the property.
They reportedly saw him use a separate door to enter the residence and threaten the caller.
Officers then attempted to take Targon into custody, but he reportedly resisted arrest, although he was eventually subdued. He was already subject to bail conditions following a charge for refusing to submit to arrest or detention just four days earlier.
He was transported to the Penobscot County Jail, where he faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, and violating conditions of release.
