At approximately 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, deputies, along with the Maine State Police and Fryeburg Rescue, responded to a Wakefield Road residence in Brownfield.
The caller reported a domestic violence incident involving firearms.
She told the police that a man in possession of firearms fired multiple rounds inside and outside the residence and at the victim, though he did not hit her.
The victim successfully fled the residence without injury, while the suspect remained inside.
When deputies and state troopers arrived, they secured the area, established a perimeter, and applied for and received an arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for the home.
A Maine State Police Tactical Team responded to assist with the arrest.
Shortly after midnight on Thursday, hours after they first arrived, law enforcement arrested the suspect, Dakota Clifford, 32, of Brownfield.
The Sheriff’s Department did not specify whether Clifford surrendered or whether law enforcement needed to enter the building to arrest him by force.
He was charged with aggravated reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence terrorizing. He was transported to the Oxford County Jail.
A search of the residence allegedly revealed multiple firearms and other evidence related to the incident.
The case remains under investigation, and Clifford remains incarcerated pending further court proceedings.
