TURNER, Maine โ€” The Maine Fire Marshalโ€™s Office is investigating an early morning camper trailer fire in Turner that left two cats dead and destroyed the vehicle.

Turner Fire Rescue responded to a call at approximately 2:23 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, reporting a camper trailer fire at 63 Blake Road. Upon arrival, crews found the camper trailer fully involved in flames.

The Fire Marshalโ€™s Office was called to assist in determining the origin and cause of the fire. Preliminary information indicates the fire may have started in one of the camperโ€™s bedrooms, though investigators have not yet determined an exact cause.

Improper disposal of smoking materials cannot be ruled out as a potential factor, according to preliminary findings.

No injuries to people were reported, however two cats died as a result of the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.

Glad no humans got killed and hats-off to the Turner Fire Rescue for their quick work. Too bad about the cats.
