TURNER, Maine — The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating an early morning camper trailer fire in Turner that left two cats dead and destroyed the vehicle.

Turner Fire Rescue responded to a call at approximately 2:23 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, reporting a camper trailer fire at 63 Blake Road. Upon arrival, crews found the camper trailer fully involved in flames.

The Fire Marshal’s Office was called to assist in determining the origin and cause of the fire. Preliminary information indicates the fire may have started in one of the camper’s bedrooms, though investigators have not yet determined an exact cause.

Improper disposal of smoking materials cannot be ruled out as a potential factor, according to preliminary findings.

No injuries to people were reported, however two cats died as a result of the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.

Glad no humans got killed and hats-off to the Turner Fire Rescue for their quick work. Too bad about the cats.
