Girl Scouts Sue Little Brownie Bakers, Battle Marijuana Cookie Ban, Fake Knockoffs, Proving Iran Isn’t Our Only Nightmare

If we’re fighting over Girl Scout Cookies is there any hope for this world?

Three recent cookie incidents across America indicate that life ain’t so simple anymore.

The Girl Scout troop in San Diego, California, has sued the company that makes the cookies, alleging a $1.1 million contract breach.

The suit alleges that Little Brownie Bakers broke a contract and tried to force 22 percent price increase.

As if that weren’t enough of a blow to America as we know it, a Girl Scout troop in Burlington County, New Jersey is facing backlash from regional scout leaders after setting up a cookie booth outside a local marijuana dispensary targeting customers with “the munchies.”

“Anyone who has ever smoked or consumed cannabis knows that ‘the munchies’ soon follow,” reports News12 New Jersey.

The girls have since been told that they can no longer sell their cookies outside of a pot store.

And now, if Girl Scouts weren’t taking enough of a crumble, national scout officials are warning consumers to be on guard for cookie knockoffs.

Nationwide, Girl Scouts sell approximately 200 million boxes of cookies every spring, generating as much as $1.4 billion.

An estimated 700,000 Girl scouts participate in the annual ritual that has always bridged the transition from winter to spring.

Girl Scouts of Maine, meanwhile, are offering nine cookie flavors, including seemingly everything delightful from peanut butter patties to thin mints.

If that doesn’t give you the munchies what will?

You can even order from some troops online, Troop 1240 in Portland among them, as well as at tables set up at area businesses.

“Every year we spend a third of our cookie money on something fun, a third on troop activities and badges and a third as a donation to a local charity,” the troop says.

“Last year we adopted two girls for Christmas and went shopping! We learn how to calculate, how to take no respectfully, how to plan for the future and budget. We also learn how to interact safely and kindly with strangers.”

So come on America, let’s buck up for the Girl Scouts and their cookies – lawsuits over pricing, arguments over the munchies, and knockoffs be damned.
