President Donald Trump on Saturday blasted Democrats over airport security and Department of Homeland Security funding, accusing them of endangering TSA officers and the country through what he described as reckless and uncaring policies. His comments came as the broader standoff over DHS funding continued and as he threatened to move ICE into a larger airport security role as early as Monday.

In the statement, Trump said Democrats had harmed the Department of Homeland Security, TSA officers, and the American people by refusing to allow what he called “Just and Proper Security” at airports and elsewhere in the country. He said that if Democrats did not act, ICE would “do the job far better than ever done before.”

Trump also accused Democrats of allowing criminals to enter the country through an open border policy, while crediting Republicans with shutting the border down and creating what he called the strongest border in American history. He closed the statement by saying he was looking forward to moving ICE in on Monday and had already told the agency to “GET READY.”
