At approximately 1:35 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man lying in the road near the entrance to the Central Maine Community College.

Officers arrived to discover a 40-year-old Auburn man lying in the road with serious injuries.

He was allegedly struck by a vehicle, and the driver remained on the scene waiting for police to arrive.

The victim was transported to the Central Maine Medical Center and was eventually transferred to the Maine Medical Center. Police did not specify whether the victim is expected to recover.

Police identified the driver as Alicia Weber, 43, of Auburn, and arrested her on charges of operating under the influence causing injury.

She was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail, where she was issued a $5,000 bail.

Turner Street was temporarily closed while the crash was reconstructed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No comments allowed on the rash of ODs in Portland; however, this problem could be self limiting: ” the city experienced seven suspected overdoses in less than 20 hours”.
