The South Portland Burger King at 375 Gorham Road erupted in chaos on Sunday when a group of four juvenile suspects allegedly initiated a brawl that led to multiple employees being pepper sprayed.

The South Portland Police Department has not issued any public releases on the incident, but The Maine Wire obtained details after reaching out to the department.

Police responded to the restaurant after receiving reports of a fight in progress between staff and customers, involving four suspects.

Law enforcement arrived to determine that suspects deployed pepper spray, affecting multiple employees, after it was dispersed throughout the kitchen.

The preliminary investigation revealed that at least one suspect allegedly jumped over the service counter during the brawl and that a cash register was damaged during the incident.

The Maine Wire submitted a Freedom of Access Act request for the incident reports, but the request was denied because the incident involved juveniles.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation remains ongoing.

It is not clear what caused the fight.

The Maine Wire reached out to the Burger King for more details, but the manager refused to provide any information except to say that all employees are now uninjured.

Would these youts be some of our “new citizens” from you know where? Just asking. The NFL should ask Burger King to sponsor the Super Bowl. The game could be promoted as the “Burger King Brawl”.

The mischievous urchins could possibly be from Sagamore Village or Kennedy Park but more likely they’re from the nearby welcoming community of Redbank Village.
