PORTLAND, Maine — As part of its ongoing effort to provide transparency to the public, the Portland Police Department released its latest weekly calls for service report, highlighting the most common arrest charges, frequent calls handled by officers, and several notable incidents from the previous week.

According to the department, the most frequent arrest charges during the reporting period were Warrant (12) and Criminal Trespass (12), followed by Violating Condition of Release (8), Theft (8), and Unlawful Possession of Drugs (7).

Police also reported a high volume of service calls across the city. The most common calls included Motor Vehicle Stops (125), 911 Hang Up Calls (108), and Person(s) Bothering (82). Additional frequently logged calls included Check Well Being (68) and Special Attention Check (63).

Among the select incidents highlighted in the weekly report was a traffic stop conducted on April 10, 2026, in the area of 1325 Forest Avenue at approximately 9:49 a.m.

During the stop, an officer observed suspected illegal drugs in plain view inside an open purse. Police said the driver then attempted to conceal a plastic bag containing the suspected substances. A subsequent search of the purse led to the discovery of a handgun.

A 38-year-old female was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Jail, where she was charged with Aggravated Trafficking of Scheduled Drugs (Class A).

Officers seized approximately 39.5 grams gross weight of a substance believed to be a combination of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to the report.

The Portland Police Department continues to make weekly arrest logs and daily media logs available to the public as part of its transparency efforts through its online reporting system.

You have missed the big story here. Two fatal overdoses. Never reported in the media. They should be considered homicides. There were two addtional deaths on the report a couple of weeks ago.

I like this. I would like to see Auburn put up such a report.
