When law enforcement arrived, they discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound.

The shooting victim, identified as Maliyah Powell, 22, of Lewiston, was transported by ambulance to the Central Maine Medical Center, where she tragically died of her injuries.

She was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy, and her cause of death was deemed to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was determined to be a homicide.

Throughout the morning of the shooting, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and Evidence Response Technicians processed the crime scene.
