A federal appeals court has ordered a district judge to stop limiting President Trump from deporting foreign gangsters.
The DC Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday that a lower judge exceeded his authority trying to hold Trump in contempt.
Federal District Judge James Boasberg has maintained that Trump was ignoring his order against deporting Venezuelan gangs.
But the appeals court admonished Boasberg for abusing his discretion.
The case involved Trump’s deportation of hundreds of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador a year ago.
Boasberg was investigating whether Trump violated his emergency order blocking the flights.
The appeals panel said a federal judge has no authority to get involved in “deliberations about matters of national security and diplomacy.”
A dissenting judge in the appeal decision complained that Trump was overstepping his power.
