The Homeland Security Task Force launched a new website, as announced by the FBI on Friday, outlining efforts to dismantle transnational criminal organizations operating within the United States.
In alliance between the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations, efforts will include embedded personnel, resources, and intelligence sharing while remaining committed to identifying and ending activities of drug cartels, foreign gangs, and other organizations threatening national security.
Established Jan. 20, 2025, the task force serves as a permanent interagency body formed under presidential mandate. It reached full operational status in September with 30 regional task forces and 29 satellite offices covering the entirety of the United States, including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
“We don’t negotiate. We dismantle,” banners the task force website, further emphasizing that “the threat doesn’t respect the borders, so the response has to match it.”
It appears over 20 federal agencies are participating in operations with more than 400 state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners included. The new task force deploys 8,500 agents and analysts, while maintaining its National Coordination Center in Fairfax, Virginia where it can allocate resources and align nationwide investigations.
Officials said the task force has already achieved historical success in its first year, with their website providing additional details on task force structure, including its National Executive Committee and Law Enforcement Partners Council. The latest announcement convenes additional federal enforcement resources to deter national security threats within our nation’s borders.
