At approximately 12:05 a.m. the Knox Regional Communications Center recieved a report that a vehicle crashed through a home at the intersection of Sprce Head Road and Village Road in St. George.

First responders arrived to discover multiple injured victims.

One 16-year-old was transported by helicopter to a trauma center with life threatening injuries. Five other passengers, Aiden Stalcup, 18, of South Thomaston, Brooklyn Hart, 18, of Belgrade, a 17, year, old, another 16-year-old and a 15,-year-old, were all transported to a local hospital with varying degrees of non-life-threatening injuries.

Michael Sabins, 19, of Liberty, another passenger, sustained minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital.

The driver, Eliza Luce, 20, of Union, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, a black 2013 Hyundai Sonata was travelling southbound when Luce failed to navigate the sharp corner, and veered off the road into the house.

The investigation remains ongoing, but the Knox Sheriff’s Department currently believes that speed, along with alcohol and drug consumption contributed to the crash.
